1982 Grit Laskin 10 String Cittern

Photo for Ad 135541

(Serial No. 270982) From my personal collection. Here is something you do not see every day. This is a 10 string cittern built by the famous Canadian luthier Grit Laskin. It has a 20 inch scale length and a 1 10/16 nut. Top is fine grained spruce with silking (Engleman?), fretboard is ebony with pearl dots, the neck is flamed maple, the heel cap is ebony and the back and sides are cocobolo. There is a clear pickguard affixed to the top. The nut, bridge and rear string pad are ivory. The ivory cannot be shipped through US Customs as-is; however bone replacements can be fitted at a slight additional amount for international shipping. It currently strung GDAEA, but any moden zook tuning could be used. Neck is straight, neck set is good and the frets are fine. All hardware and finish are original. Has a big booming voice and it plays nicely. You expect outstanding and innovative inlay work from Laskin and this has it. The peghead is inlaid with a beautifully inlaid unicorn. I was told when I bought the instrument that the design was inspired by the (now closed) Unicorn Pub in Toronto. Comes with a custom made Blue Heron padded gig bag.

$3950. Trades considered, credit cards ok. For more and larger pictures click on the box labeled "Additional Information" above.

Thanks!
