Fairbanks-Vega Tubaphone No. 3

A prime example of a Fairbanks-Vega Tubaphone No. 3. model that was owned by banjo virtuoso J. C. Dailey who wowed and enthralled audiences during the first part of the 20th century (assorted copies of play bills, news-paper articles, and ephemera are included in the case pocket). This banjo has a 10-15/16" diameter rim assembly that is equipped the fabled perforated Tubaphone tonering, Cam style No Knot; original neck hardware (some hooks have been replaced, originals are retained in case pocket). Three piece mahogany neck with 27" scale length, long/detailed carved heel, ebony fingerboard with dots and a star inlaid in pearl, pearwood peghead overlay with vine pearl inlay on face of peghead. Equipped with Gotoh geared tuners with vintage buttons, Five star geared fifth. In overall very nice original condition, just age expected wear (some dings and scratches), original frets present, light pitting on lower strings. Included in sale is later hard case
