For Sale. Peter Abnett Bouzouki. I've been told that this is a very rare bird indeed. It was made in 1977 and as you can see it has been well played and has a few battle scars. The back and sides seem like Brazilian Rosewood but i'm not sure. The centre piece of the back looks like Indian Rosewood. When I bought this instrument it had a separation crack and one other crack on the soundboard that were probably caused by humidity issues and not being stored properly. I sent the bouzouki to professional guitar builder Martin Murphy of Menapia Guitars in Wexford, Ireland and he has done a great job of bringing her back to life. Firstly he humidified it for a few weeks to get the woods right. He then repaired the separation and crack in the old traditional way of hot hide glue and cleats underneath. He also re-glued the scratch plate which had slightly lifted. He removed 2 strap buttons (one on the back of the headstock) and filled the holes. He levelled and dressed the frets and oiled the fretboard so she's ready to be enjoyed and set up to your own taste. I have left everything original in case a collector buys it but an Abnett playing friend said he would change the tuners and metal tail piece if he was going to gig it. There are also 2 repaired cracks in the back that were repaired years ago and are perfectly stable. This bouzouki is as light as a feather with a lovely tone and is surprisingly loud! It also comes with the original Calton case so it's real piece of bouzouki history. Price wise I was told it is worth 3000 euro but I am open to realistic offers. Don't be afraid to make an offer. With the back being Rosewood I can't ship outside of Europe and ideally I would like a local buyer as I don't really want to ship it but if I do get a serious offer I will ship it securely. The instrument is available in to view in Wexford.Ireland.Thanks for looking.
