Hi there! My name is David and I'm a professional mandolinist here in Cambridge, MA. I graduated from college in 2013 with a unique bachelors degree in mandolin music performance. While in school, I studied with Grammy-nominated mandolinist Matt Flinner as a core part of my curriculum. I've recorded and released two albums of my own original music. Over the years, I've had the privilege of performing on stage with such artists as Flinner, Casey Driessen, Julian Lage, Mike Marshall, Missy Raines, David Grier, Darrell Scott, Tim O'Brien, Tommy Emmanuel, Tony Trischka, and others. I now live in Cambridge/Boston, playing full time with the IBMA Momentum Award-winning bluegrass band Mile Twelve, and hosting the weekly Mandolin Monday videos series here on the Cafe.
I’ve been teaching private lessons for nearly a decade, and it would be my pleasure to help you reach your musical goals and get you to the next level in your playing ability. I specialize in teaching genres such as bluegrass, oldtime, Celtic, jazz, classical, and more. Together in our lessons, we’ll focus on establishing good technique, expanding repertoire, studying music theory, and exploring improvisation. I teach either online via Skype/Facetime or in person in Cambridge, MA. See below for more information on my lesson rates:
Lesson Rates: $45 per half hour lesson - $70 per hour lesson
