Le Danseuse. Delma Lachney & Blind Uncle Gaspard From the Folkways Anthology of American Folk Music. The same version is also on Yazoo 2042, Early American Cajun Music, which describes Lachney/Gaspard as "an unusual byway of Cajun music that is softer and more introspective than other styles." (It doesn't sound Cajun to me either.) I like the quaint-sounding formality of this tune. It's played through seven times, but versions #1 and #7 have an extra part. The first four bars are played differently in 5 of the first 6 go-rounds, with an extra half-measure the second time. The first eight bars are played differently in the 7th and final version, with another measure and a half added in. Hopefully this is sufficient explanation to decipher the tab, which includes these permutations. Measure 11 is variously played as 1, 1.5, and 2 measures, all just on D. I didn't bother to sort them out, but if variety or authenticity is needed just add a few more beats of D there now and then. It's played at a sprightly pace. It's a fiddle tune, so tremolo where sustain seems needed. ----||-1---1-1---------|-----------------|-----------------|-----------------| ----|o---------3---3-3-|-0---3-3-5---3-3-|-0---0-3-5-5-3-0-|-----0---3---3-3-| ----|o-----------------|-----------------|-----------------|-3---------------| ----||-----------------|-----------------|-----------------|-----------------| |_|_|_| |_|_|_| |_|_|_| |_|_|_| |_|_|_| |_|_|_| |_|_|_| |_|_|_| |-----131-0-------|-----------------|-----------------|-----------------| |-3---ho------0---|-3---3-3-3---131-|-0---------------|-----------------| |-----------------|--------------ho-|-----5---5---3---|-3-------0---3---| |-----------------|-----------------|-----------------|-----------------| |_|_|_| |_|_|_| |_|_|_| |_|_|_| |_|_|_| |_|_|_| |_|_|_| |_|_|_| see note 1 |-----------------|-----------------|-----------------|-----------------| |-1-------1-------|-------------1---|-5-------5---5---|-3-------0-------| |-----------------|---------3-------|-----------------|-------------3---| |-----------------|-----------------|-----------------|-----------------| |_|_|_| |_|_|_| |_|_|_| |_|_|_| |_|_|_| |_|_|_| |_|_|_| |_|_|_| see note 2 |-------0-1-------|-------------131-|-0---0-0-0-------|-----------------| |-0-1-3-------0---|-3---3-3-3---ho--|-------------1---|-0---------------| |-----------------|-----------------|-----------------|-----5---5---3---| |-----------------|-----------------|-----------------|-----------------| |_|_|_| |_|_|_| |_|_|_| |_|_|_| |_|_|_| |_|_|_| |_|_|_| |_|_|_| __________ _____________ |2. thru 6. 1. and 7. |---------------0-|-1---1-1-1------- |-1------1--------|-----------------| |---------0-1-3---|-----------------o|----3------------|--------1--------| |--3--------------|-----------------o|-----------------|-3---------------| |-----------------|----------------- |-----------------|-----------------| |_|_|_| |_|_|_| |_|_|_| |_|_|_| |_|_|_| |_|_|_| |_|_|_| |_|_|_| |-----------------|-----------------|-----------------|-----------------| |-------------1---|-5-------5-------|---------5---5---|-3-------0-------| |---------3-------|-----------------|-----------------|-------------3---| |-----------------|-----------------|-----------------|-----------------| |_|_|_| |_|_|_| |_|_|_| |_|_|_| |_|_|_| |_|_|_| |_|_|_| |_|_|_| |-------0-1-------|-------------131-|-0---------------|-----------------| |-0-1-3-------0---|-3---3-3-3---ho--|-----3-3-3---1---|-0---------------| |-----------------|-----------------|-----------------|-----5---5---3-3-| |-----------------|-----------------|-----------------|-----------------| |_|_|_| |_|_|_| |_|_|_| |_|_|_| |_|_|_| |_|_|_| |_|_|_| |_|_|_| 1. 7. |---------------0-|-1---1-1-1-to top|-1-----1-1-1---1-|-----------------| |---------0-1-3---|-----------------|-----------------|-----------------| |-3---------------|-----------------|-----------------|-----------------| |-----------------|-----------------|-----------------|-----------------| |_|_|_| |_|_|_| |_|_|_| |_|_|_| |_|_|_| |_|_|_| |_|_|_| |_|_|_| First four bars, #2.
