John Reischman & the Jaybirds
Chicago, Ill. — The Old Town School of Folk Music is proud to present a Bluegrass Band Rhythm Workshop with John Reischman & the Jaybirds on Saturday, November 8, 2008 at 2:30 p.m.
In this workshop the band will focus on the rhythmic role of each bluegrass instrument and demonstrate the most effective way to support the soloist.
The band starts by playing a song, and then breaking it down, one instrument at a time, to show how all the musicians work together to create a cohesive sound, and groove.
Each musician will demonstrate the techniques that are unique to their instrument, such as strum patterns for guitar and mandolin, roll patterns for banjo, etc. Back up to the vocalist, or instrumental soloist will also be demonstrated.
50 students slots are available with a registration fee of $35. Registration should be made directly from the School's web site workshop page.
