New Hope, Pa. — The Cool Mandolin Company will host a Matt Flinner Mandolin Workshop on April 9, 2008 from 7:00 - 10:00 p.m. at 1380 Eagle Rd.

Cost of the workshop is $55.00 and advance reservations are strongly recommended as a sell-out is expected and seating is limited.

The workshop will cover:

Fundamentals: right and left hand exercises for improving tone, speed and volume.

Improvising: various approaches to creating solos over commonly played tunes; changing octaves and positions on the neck, adding embellishments, using double stops, modes, scales and arpeggios. Some theory will be covered, but background knowledge in music theory is not necessary.

Backup Playing: commonly and not-so-commonly used approaches to playing backup.
