Brad Laird Mandolin Workshop - Alabama Folk School at Camp McDowell

Nauvoo, Al. — The Alabama Folk School at Camp McDowell presents a workshop entitled "Beginning to Intermediate Mandolin" featuring Brad Laird as instructor on February 17-22, 2008.
Designed for beginner or intermediate players, this class you will teach you how to tune, how to play basic chords, how to play rhythm and how to set up your mandolin for easy playability.
After going through the basics, the class will learn to learn a group of songs in a variety of styles including old-time fiddle tunes, Celtic influenced dance tunes, and bluegrass jam session favorites. You also learn the secrets to effective practice. All written materials will be provided so you'll be able to keep practicing when you return home.
Brad Laird has been playing the mandolin since 1975 and has recorded several albums in addition to been teaching mandolin, banjo, guitar and upright bass since 1982. He has authored several mandolin specific books including Mandolin Training Camp, Mandolin Excursion and The Mandolin Handbook - An Owner's Manual.
The Alabama Folk School at Camp McDowell is a summer camp, environmental center and conference center located at 105 DeLong Road.
Camp McDowell is located on 1100+ acres of forests, canyons, and waterfalls, providing a beautiful setting in which to spend a week immersed in this mandolin course.
