Bloomfield, N.J. — The Bloomfield Mandolin Orchestra, directed by Gabriel L. Nevola, will open its 66th Concert Season on Sunday, November 11 at 3:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of the Presbyterian Church On The Green, 147 Broad Street.
The program will salute and honor our nations' veterans. Featured soloist will be renown tenor Thomas Smargiassi. The orchestra will perform a variety of patriotic American and traditional Italian songs.
Tenor Thomas Smargiassi has performed around the world and is becoming known for his gift of warmth and impassioned musical delivery. In Florida with Manhattan Lyric Opera, performing the role The Duke in Rigoletto, he successfully navigated Verdi's repertoire with ease and provided a thrill of excitement to the audiences there. He had just returned from Italy where he made his debut as Alfredo in La Traviata with the New Opera Festival di Roma. While in Rome, he was also asked to perform the role of Rodolfo in La Boheme where he was received with numerous ovations.
