Renowned mandolin and guitar instructor Orrin Star will present separate mandolin workshops, both entitled "Making Your Mando Sing" in Dothan (NOTE: this event has been cancelled) and Huntsville (1:00 - 3:00 p.m.), Alabama on November 3 and 10, 2007 respectively.

Using the classic song "New River Train", this workshop details how to transform a simply vocal melody into a full-sounding mandolin solo, by adding harmonized notes and strums to your leads. It also introduces some essential end-of-phrase licks that can make a solo really jump.

Both workshops are designed for novice through intermediate players (ie., all but total beginners). Limited to 12 participants. Includes written hand-out. $45 fee. Non-video recording devices are welcome.
