Lawrence, Kans. &mdash The sale of a Gilchrist Model 1 mandolin with 100% of the proceeds donated to the Butch Baldassari Medical Fund was completed today on the Mandolin Cafe.

Bids were accepted for a one-week period starting October 1 and ended October 8, 2007. After an opening price of $6,000 set as the minimum, a price of $14,250 was accepted today as the winning offer.

Styled after Gibson A junior mandolins of the 1920's, the Model 1 features the hardest maple and spruce, increasing its power and projection, the result of which is a truly world class professional grade mandolin.

The purchase of the Model 1 sold on the Cafe today was donated by an anonymous individual. There are no plans to announce the identity of buyer.
