Nauvoo, Al. — The Alabama Folk School at Camp McDowell is a summer camp, environmental center and conference center located at 105 DeLong Road.

Starting September, 2007 they launch a folk school where participants will have the opportunity to register for a week or weekend to learn a craft or art of their choice.

One of their first week long classes is a Beginning to Intermediate Mandolin course led by veteran bluegrass and folk performer and mandolin instructor Orrin Star, to be held November 4-9, 2007.

Camp McDowell is located on 1100+ acres of forests, canyons, and waterfalls, providing a beautiful setting in which to spend a week immersed in a mandolin course.
