John McGann's DVD Sound Fundamentals: Tone, Touch And Technique For Mandolin includes a wide variety of topics of interest to mandolinists looking to improve their playing skills.

Topics covered include getting comfortable, tone guards, straps, choosing the right pick, anchoring, open string exercises, downstrokes vs. alternate picking, crosspicking and tremolo—importance of the loose wrist—left hand fingering, the "duck web" and parallel thumb, synchronizing both hands, unlocking the fingerboard speed and much more.

Includes printable notation and tablature file as PDF. Anticipated release date April 10, 2007.

John McGann is Associate Professor in the string department at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, a Mel Bay author and former national mandolin and guitar flatpicking champion.
