Lawrence, Kans. — The Downtown Mandolin Orchestra holds their second annual spring concert at 8:00 p.m. on April 21, 2007 at the Lawrence Arts Center, 940 New Hampshire Street.

The opening acts include Three Bean Salad, featuring Mike Black, one of the midwest's finest New England style mandolin players, and David Ludwig (mandolin) and Bill Butler on (bass clarinet), forming one of the most unique yet delightful duets imaginable.

The Downtown Mandolin Orchestra is conducted by Jeff Dearinger who has provided arrangements for the Classical Mandolin Society of America conventions for years and was a founding member of the Uptown Mandolin Quartet of Lawrence, and co-founder of Lawrence's Mandofest series that ran for 13 years before being discontinued in 2006.

The orchestra will play a 45-50 minute set that includes compositions from Duke Ellington, Bizet, Turlough, O'Carolan and Jacob do Bandolim in addition to compositions by the conductor.
