Berkeley, Calif. — Freight and Salvage Coffee House, a nonprofit arts organization dedicated to promoting public awareness and understanding of traditional music presents a Mike Marshall workshop for all levels of mandolin, mandola and mandocello players on February 17, 2007, 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

As the founder of the Mandolin Symposium, Mike has refined his teaching techniques and communication skills and will break down his mandolin playing into simple digestible parts. From the basics of how to hold the instrument and use the hands to clean up simple tunes, to freeing the improviser to play what they hear in their heads.

Mike's topics include right and left hand technique, interpreting a slow melody with tremolo, playing rhythm in a band, improvising over jazz changes, chord construction, cross-picking, fingerbusters, playing in a duet setting, and playing solo Bach.

Registration fee is $100.00 and should be made payable to Freight & Salvage Coffee House.
