Alexandria, Va. — Frank Solivan II will be presenting a hands-on workshop touching on traditional bluegrass songs, fiddle tunes, swing standards and country classics on January 13, 2007, 1:00-3:00 p.m., 523 North Payne Street.

Topics include an in-depth study of rhythm fundamentals, chords, scales, arpeggios, and use of fingering patterns to mentally map your fretboard.

Students will use these tools to build musical solos, learn and play faster, improve tone and enhance the tunes they already know.

Everyone will walk away with a handout referring to topics covered and a better knowledge of their instrument. Skill Level: Beginner-Intermediate

Bring: Mandolin, recording device (for future reference) and/or pen & paper, and an aspiration to learn how to play better.
