Cape Cod Mandolin Camp, part of the Festival of Mandolins
The New England Mandolin Ensemble is proud to announce the second annual Cape Cod Mandolin Camp, which will take place September 29-30 & October 1, 2006 in Sandwich, Massachusetts.
The camp is part of the Festival of Mandolins, which will also include public concerts and educational events. The special guest is Butch Baldassari, one of today's top virtuosos of the mandolin and founder of the Nashville Mandolin Ensemble.
The Camp will take a multi-stylistic approach to classes and ensembles for all levels of experience, from beginning to advanced. The faculty includes Butch Baldassari, Marilynn Mair, August Watters, Seth Austen, Beverly Woods, Alan Kaufman and Jim Dalton, representing varied approaches to mandolin.
There will be a public concert on Saturday, September 30, at 7:30 p.m., featuring Butch Baldassari, the New England Mandolin Ensemble, and special guests including CCMC faculty. The concert will take place at St. John's Episcopal Church in Sandwich. Admission is $15. The concert is supported in part by a grant from the Massachusetts Cultural Council.
CCMC students will present a public concert on Sunday, Oct. 1, 2pm at the East Sandwich Grange Hall. The students will present a program of mandolin ensembles performing various musical styles. The student concert is free and open to the public.
