The Downtown Mandolin Orchestra of Lawrence, Kansas

The Downtown Mandolin Orchestra will present its premiere concert on Saturday, April 29, 2006 at 8:00 PM at The Lawrence Arts Center, 940 New Hampshire, in Lawrence, Kansas. Tickets are $5 at the door.

The 17-piece orchestra was founded by Jeff and Beth Dearinger of the Uptown Mandolin Quartet. Area mandolin and guitar players from previous Mandofest Orchestras form this new, permanent group. Mandofest, a yearly mandolin spectacular event, is on hiatus for 2006.

Jeff Dearinger, who has 30 years of experience arranging music for and leading mandolin ensembles, will conduct the Downtown Mandolin Orchestra. Their program will include a variety of classical, Hispanic and jazz music. Scott Tichenor will be the featured performer with the orchestra.
