John Carlini and Don Stiernberg
Saturday March 11, 2006 at 7:30 PM Harper College Community Music Center in Palatine, Illinois presents Don Stiernberg and John Carlini in a concert described as "Favorite Tunes, New Setting".
Mandolinist Stiernberg and guitarist Carlini have collaborated on three CDs of acoustic jazz. The latest, By George, on Blue Night Records, is an all-Gershwin set. Their previous releases have been highly praised in national trades such as Acoustic Guitar, Downbeat, Just Jazz Guitar, Vintage Guitar, and Jazz Improv. Both instrumentalists are considered "musician's musicians." Stiernberg is an adjunct faculty member at Harper and is available for mandolin lessons through the Community Music Center.
Their concert, like their CDs, will be in jazz quartet format with bass (Jim Cox) and drums (Phil Gratteau) and will feature a varied selection of standards, Carlini originals, and the occasional Stiernberg vocal.
Tickets may be purchased at the concert or in advance through the Harper College Box Office located in Building J adjacent to the theatre, online at harpercollege.edu or by calling 847-925-6100.
