Gibson to display Lawson Model Mandolin at IBMA

Throngs of bluegrass music lovers will gather in Louisville, Kentucky September 29 to October 5, and Gibson Guitar's Original Acoustic Instrument (O.A.I) division will be a major exhibitor and showcase sponsor. The International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) hosts the World of Bluegrass Week which includes the IBMA Trade Show, The International Bluegrass Music Awards and the Bluegrass Fan Fest. Gibson's O.A.I division will exhibit to over 20,000 people from all over the U.S. and a dozen foreign countries in attendance. Other Gibson divisions represented include the Gibson Montana (acoustic) division, Epiphone, and Strings & Original Equipment.
Gibson's O.A.I division will have a major presence on the exhibit floor at the historic Galt House Hotel in downtown Louisville. Among the instruments and new fare presented will be the Doyle Lawson Signature Mandolin and the Phil Leadbetter Signature Dobro. The IBMA Trade Show is scheduled for Monday-Thursday, September 29-October 2. Gibson is sponsoring this year's new talent showcases on Thursday, Oct. 1, and the lineup includes Strungover!, Meridian, NewFound Road, Andy Leftwich and Marty Raybon. Gibson, in conjunction with First Quality Musical Supply of Louisville, is also sponsoring late night showcases (11 p.m. to 2 a.m.) on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday during the week.
The week's events include the International Bluegrass Music Awards Show on Thursday evening, October 2nd, and 11 Gibson signature artists, including Lawson and Leadbetter, are nominated for awards in a variety of categories this year. The Bluegrass Fan Fest, which takes place Friday through Sunday, features more than 40 of the music's greatest artists on three stages: the Galt House Main Stage, The Masters Workshops and the Roots & Branches Stage.
