Roger Williams University in Bristol, Rhode Island is hosting a day-long "Mandolin World Summit" with concerts and workshops featuring internationally acclaimed mandolinists Marilynn Mair (USA), Paulo Sa (Brazil), and Radim Zenkl (Czechoslovakia/California) on Sunday, February 5, 2006.
Activities will be held between 11:00 AM - 5:00 PM at the University Performing Arts Center.
The workshop sessions are sponsored by the Music Department at Roger Williams University, and will be hands-on classes for instrumentalists on the music of Brazil and Czechoslovakia. The workshops run from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM, and there is a $20 charge for non-RWU students (RWU students are free).
The concert is part of Roger Williams University's "Alive Arts Series," sponsored by the Feinstein College of Arts and Sciences, and is open to the public free of charge. It begins at 2:30 PM, and will feature solos, duos, and trio performances by Mair-Sa-Zenkl.
Although the three players are long-time fans of each other's music, this concert marks the first time they have shared a stage. The results are guaranteed to be internationally diverse and unilaterally wonderful.
