Simon Mayor has announced the publication of two new important collections entitled Great Tunes For Mandolin, Vol. 1 and 2.
Both books are perfect bound, 64 pages each and include free audio downloads. The music is written in standard notation & tablature and includes solos & duets in a variety of styles.
About his new books Mayor told us, "Great Tunes For Mandolin is an anthology of pieces from the baroque to the present day chosen for their strong and memorable melodies, either written or arranged specifically for the mandolin. You can play solos and duets with a partner or with the accompanying audio.
"Detailed performance notes and technical tips get you playing smoothly from start to finish, while background information and absorbing anecdotes make this an entertaining as well as an invaluable resource.
"Unlike most available mandolin books they are not skewed towards bluegrass but cover a variety of styles from the baroque to the present day with graded pieces ranging from easy to difficult — books to dip into over time as the player improves. Free MP3 downloads are available of the pieces."
