Petaluma, Calif. — Peter Ostroushko and Sharon Gilchrist will lead an all-star mandolin instructor team for the Walker Creek Fall Music Camp held October 9-12 on the grounds of the Walker Creek Ranch, located in the rolling hills of West Marin County between Petaluma and Tomales Bay, about an hour drive north of the San Francisco.

In addition to classes in oldtime and bluegrass mandolin, there are other classes of interest to mandolinists: improvisation, jug band, bluegrass jam class, beginning group class, teens & 'tweens band class, Music & More kids class. The camp also plays host to instruction with world class musicians in guitar, banjo, fiddle, dobro, and vocals.

New this fall is a jug band class, and improvisation on four major instruments including mandolin.

Walker Creek Music Camp is for students of all ages who love to play or sing Bluegrass, Oldtime & Country Music with occasional forays into other related styles!

2014 Fall Instructors

In addition to the mandolin staff already named, other instructors for this fall's camp include:

Laurie Lewis and Tom Rozum; Greg and Jere Canote and Candy Goldman; Keith Little and the Little Band, including Mike Witcher, Luke Abbott, and Josh Tharp; Eric and Suzy Thompson; Megan Lynch and Adam Chowning; Jim Kerwin, Steve Baughman, Avram Siegel, Morgan Cochneuer and Carol Spiker.

About The Camp

Walker Creek Music Camp is in a quiet and beautiful area with an abundance of wildlife and miles of hiking trails. They serve healthy and delicious food, and offer various choices of accommodations for campers.

Registration for the Fall Camp is now open online or by mail. Cost ranges from $375 to $750, depending on accommodation and meal choices. There are also some halftime slots available, starting at $225 — call (415) 663-1342 for more information. Registration fees will increase $50 starting September 1, and $100 starting August 1.

All mandolin classes are still currently open to registration.
