2014 Monroe-Style Mandolin Camp
Fairview, Tenn. — The 2014 Monroe-Style Mandolin Camp with Mike Compton as director will be held here September 4-7, 2014 at Camp Marymount, 1318 Fairview Blvd.
In prior years the International Bluegrass Music Museum had hosted the only major camp dedicated solely to the mandolin styles of Bill Monroe. While the Museum will continue to host mandolin camps in the future, the focus will include a wider range of traditional and progressive bluegrass mandolin styles.
In its place, Mike Compton has organized a new event not associated with the Museum to replace the void. Mike will be joined by instructors David Davis, Skip Gorman, John Keith and Mark Royal.
Joining the instructors on staff with be luthiers Paul Duff and Will Kimble. Also on site will be a camp store that will include vendors offering accessories, instruments and gear.
Details regarding camp registration, housing and fees will be available on the camp web site which is slated for launch March 8.
Camp Marymount is 28 miles from the Nashville Airport.
