Lead Mandolin Instructor, Sharon Gilchrist Julian Family Fiddle Camp
Julian, Calif. — There are those that pick the mandolin — and there are those the mandolin picks. Sharon Gilchrist is one of the later for she, like a few other masters of the instrument, was compelled from an early age to devote herself to its study.
Today, Sharon's considered one of the top mandolin players in North America, and someone who is accomplished in bluegrass, jazz and classical repertoires. While well-acclaimed as a performer, she's equally heralded as a master instructor.
Sharon, along with several other great acoustic musicians, will be instructing and performing at the Julian Family Fiddle Camp, an annual acoustic string music camp held April 9-13, 2014 at a full-service family retreat center in the historic mining town of Julian, California.
The Camp is for the young and young-at-heart who range in ability from "beginner-mediate" to advanced. Those who manage to secure a place at this once-a-year event enjoy great food, a beautiful rural atmosphere, and the company of others who come from all over the globe to participate in the experience.
