There is some more news available for the 2013 San Diego Classical Mandolin Camp.
The Kona Kai Resort is under new management and is currently being refurbished. I was able to get photos of the new bedrooms. The Kona Kai is going for a modern, beach front look. The new rooms are very nice. Here are pictures of the double & single rooms.
SDCMC has added another European artist to the instructor/performer staff. We are very pleased to have Dr. Stefanie Rauch join our team. She will perform on Thursday evening with Chris Acquavella, as well as teach on Friday.
Dr. Stefanie Rauch:
For over 15 years, Dr. Stefanie Rauch, has been performing as a soloist and with several ensembles around the world. She studied the mandolin under the instruction of Keith David Harris. Stefanie is a member of the world music ensemble Vinorosso, and the music director of the federation of plucked-string music of the German state of Hesse (BDZ Hessen e.V.). She is a regular guest at various international courses, teaching the mandolin and the mandola as well as music history.
Apart from being a classical mandolinist, Dr. Stefanie Rauch is a musicologist at the Musicological Seminar of the Universität Paderborn and the Hochschule für Musik Detmold, Germany. Between 2007 and 2011, Stefanie also held teaching positions at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Cologne/Wuppertal as well as the Philipps-Universität Marburg and the Hochschule für Musik Würzburg.
SDCMC would like to email the orchestra music to participants around July 1st. If you are interested in going to the 2013 SDCMC, please sign up soon. This way you can have a full month to learn ensemble music. Please email Chris Acquavella if you have any questions.
