The Ragtime Skedaddlers - Mandolins at the Cake Walk
The Ragtime Skedaddlers have announced the release of their second recording entitled Mandolins at the Cake Walk.
At the end of the 19th century, mandolin clubs and orchestras were all the rage, and ragtime was coming into its own as America's original popular music.
Arrangements for strings, usually for 2 mandolins and guitar with piano accompaniment) were published as sheets, in folios, and in magazines read by devotees of banjo, mandolin, and guitar music such as the Cadenza.
Mandolins at the Cake Walk, and its predecessor (Rag Time Skedaddlers, Mandophone CD0901), are thought to be the first modern recordings devoted almost exclusively to these early arrangements of rags and cakewalks for mandolins and guitar.
Offered as a free 3-track download from their web site, and as a 13-track album with insert from CD Baby and Elderly Instruments.

A Florida Cracker

Mississippi Bubble
Dengozo
Golden Spider
Eli Green's Cake Walk

It is a truly marvelous collection for both music and art that includes many of the tunes performed by the Ragtime Skedaddlers.
