Colorado Mandolin Festival - August 6, 2011

Longmont, Colo. The Colorado Mandolin Festival will be held August 6, 2011, from 3:00-9:00 p.m. at the Willow Farm, 11898 N. 75th St., Longmont (in the town of Hygiene, northeast of Boulder, just west of Longmont).

The festival includes performances by the Denver Mandolin Orchestra, Panache, Duo Cantabile, The Ransom Notes, Wonderlic, The Mullins Brothers, and The New Mandolin Quartet.

The aim of the festival according to Steve Mullins, festival director, is "to demonstrate the beauty and versatility of the instrument and to present some of the best musicians in the region. The intent is to make this an ever-growing annual event along with the guitar festival and banjola festival also produced at Willow Farm."

Food and drink will be available on site. This is an outdoor event and attendees are encouraged to come prepared. Some seating and shade is provided. In case of rain, performances will move to the nearby "Old Mill" building.

Schedule of performers:

3:00-3:45 The Denver Mandolin Orchestra
4:00-4:45 Duo Cantabile (mandola and guitar)
5:00-5:45 Panache
6:00-6:45 Wonderlic
7:00-7:40 The Mullins Brothers
7:45-8:00 The Ransom Notes
8:15-9:00 The New Mandolin Quartet

Admission: $20 day-pass or $35 2-festival combo-pass (mandolin festival and banjola festival Aug. 20). 20% off for seniors and students. Children 12 and under free.
