Ricky Skaggs - Songs My Dad Loved
Ricky Skaggs' newest solo recording, Songs My Dad Loved will be released on September 15, 2009 on Skaggs Family Records. A marvelous collection of traditional and pre-bluegrass mountain music put together to honor his father Hobert, Ricky Skaggs plays every instrument and sings every note on the album.
After losing his brother and mandolin playing musical partner in World War II, Hobert Skaggs swore that if any of his children showed an interest in music he'd teach them the mandolin and carry on his brother's legacy. After hearing three-year-old Ricky harmonizing with his mother from across the house as he played with toys, Hobert surprised him with a mandolin.
An exceptional recording that will be a must own for lovers of traditional acoustic music.
