2009 San Francisco Festival of Mandolins
San Francisco, Ca. — The 9th Annual San Francisco Festival of the Mandolins will be held April 26, 2009 in the Croatian American Cultural Center at 60 Onondaga.
Five diverse ensembles playing mandolins and mandolin-like instruments from Russia to the Philippines will be performing on this year's program including The Aurora Mandolin Orchestra, San Francisco Balalaika Ensemble, Instant Klezmer Mandolin Orchestra, Likha Pilipino Folk Ensemble's Rondalla, and the Ragtime Skedaddlers. Add the BYO Mandolin Orchestra (Bring Your Own) and Mandolin workshops, and you have day that cannot be missed.
The performances for the public will commence at 1:00.
Preceding the public performances, the festival opens at 10:30 a.m. with the BYO Mandolin Orchestra (Bring Your Own). Music will be provided. Workshops will begin also at noon.
Food and drink will be available from noon and will feature Bulgarian fare prepared by Hristos Kolev.
