Walnut Valley Contest Winners Perform in Festival Pre-Concert
This year a new addition has been made to the first place winners of the the previous year's Walnut Valley instrument contests. Each first place winner from the 2008 Walnut Valley Festival Championships has been offered an opportunity to return to this year's festival to perform in a special concert.

The International Bluegrass Music Museum's annual festival, ROMP, the River of Music Party, takes place Wednesday through Saturday, June 24-27, at the museum in downtown Owensboro, at the RiverPark Center next door to the museum, and at Yellow Creek Park, on the eastern outskirts of Owensboro, Kentucky.

Mike Marshall visited Germany this past May and went to the heart of the classical mandolin where he was invited to teach a workshop at the University of Cologne where Caterina Lichtenberg is the head professor of mandolin on the campus in the town of Wuppertal.
