Dawg
Dawg - David Grisman
A commonly used nickname of mandolin legend David Grisman, David Jay Grisman being his full name. The term coined by Grateful Dead guitarist Jerry Garcia during their days in the band Old and In The Way because at that time it was said he (Grisman) looked like a shaggy dog, hence Dawg.
"Dawg Music" applies to the hybrid genre of music associated with Grisman's music that is a unique blend of bluegrass and jazz, and truly like no other.
