I gotta say that the people posting on this site are THE people that will be able to pick a copy, and can confirm or deny the authenticity of a Gibson mandolin.
I'm no Gibson afficionado or historian, but I can see that this is a tribute. Not as well executed as some others that have been discussed in the past, so somewhat more obvious. Plenty of red flags already mentioned throughout this thread.
Hereby & forthwith, any instrument with an odd number of strings shall be considered broken. With regard to mix levels, usually the best approach is treating the mandolin the same as a cowbell.
