Thought I'd share my inquiry to Schertler in Switzerland ,
upon seeing a newer pickup version , than the one I have. Apparently Mr Schertler puts his money, profits from prior sales, into research towards developing an improved product after all he has a Swiss Bank Account already.. ![]() " The DYN series pickups has 3 different categories: 1. the Standard DYN series (like for example the DYN-M) This line has been upgraded since 2006 with a new lighter internal construction. This has improved the sound giving to the pickup a more even frequency response. Every instrument model has it's own application system and it's optimal frequency cut. 2. the build in series pickup (like C-DYN-S and C-DYN-L) those are made with the same technology as the DYN series but without shielded construction and without internal electronics. These series has no internal filters and the frequency response is linear. 3. the A-DYN is the last born of the DYN family and is the best sounding Schertler contact microphone. The construction extremely optimized and the sound is much a level higher than by the traditional DYN contact pickups. Please see: http://www.schertler.com/prodotti_in.../a-dyn-set.htm The A-Dyn has it’s own Active PRE-AMP called A-PRE that help to those musicians/engineers that do not have professional preamps and that are constantly moving on different gigs." the company color is apparently Blue, as the new parts are anodized blue.

For what its worth - my subjective impression is that while the Dyn series pick ups are very good (I use one) the company may have a greater than average tendancy to play marketing games. I'm real skeptical about this new product in the sense that I initially suspect, without knowing of course, that this might be primarily a marketing ploy not unlike the way they market the current Dyn series G,M and V. So far as I have been able to determine the specially tailored "filters" they sometimes refer to when asked to explain the technical difference between the Dyn M and the Dyn G amount to nothing more than different length chords. Just my gut feeling and opinion based on a little digging around and asking questions. It could well be that this new pick up is significantly different - but I personally wouldn't go out and replace my Dyn G until someone explained the technical difference more fully - or until someone had some real life experience with the new pickup and could compare it objectively to the old Dyn.
