I would never purchase or choose not to purchase music because it or it's performing artist won or lost the IBMA award. I voted for Sierra because I would like to see her continue as a player and feel her career could use the boost at this time, and don't feel Bush, McCoury or Steffey need it as much at this point. Don't have an opinion on Brock but because of this forum I will now be listening for him.

Yeah, I'm doubling my vote too!

Excellent, excellent - 5 BIG stars!

Nothing against Sierra Hull (I have not heard her CD - I have heard she is a pretty good young player), but does she really belong with the other nominees at this point of her playing / career? Not trying to flame, just asking a legit question!
Yes. Saw her band play an 2 hour set in an intimate setting and while young, she has a fantastic band, a good stage presence, and can play the dickens out of her mandolin. Put another way, she's as good as lot of folks on who've been on the circuit for as long as she's been alive.

I'm not trying to be a pisser, but if you haven't heard Hull (inferred from your previous posts, and apologies if I'm incorrect), why are you voting?

Huh, what thread are you reading? Not sure how you have come to the conclusion that I haven't heard Sierra Hull. I have, many times in fact.

I'm voting because I like Jesse Brock. Pretty simple if you ask me.

Jesse Brock has as much talent as should be allowed. I've heard Ronnie a half dozen times, Adam once and Jesse several times over a weekend. The other two on DVD or Cds. Jesse can scorch anyone on this planet and then play with a "Thile" like sweetness on the next tune. All awards are kind of silly. "The English Patient" won the the 1996 Oscar for best picture and that movie stinks.

Many apologies, I apparently misinterpreted your previous messages.

This is the 2nd time in a year I actually voted for someone who won.

The other guy happens to be our president.

Congratulations to Jesse Brock!

That's great news. They're all great pickers but I'm glad to see Jesse get it. He is a huge talent, and perhaps under-appreciated until now.

Trvth so pure.

I'd never heard of him before this thread, but after watching a few vids cast my vote his way. Tasty lines with a great touch.

So many great players but I vote for Jesse Brock and then Ronnie McCoury from the 5 available nominees. Both Jesse and Ronnie are great and either one of them winning would make me happy.

IBMA sends forms as the first ballot to their members who are invited to write in their favorite players. A second ballot has the top ten vote getters from which voters select their favorite five. A final ballot has the top five from the 2nd round and a single selection is made. I voted for Jesse on each round.
