I guess no one has because no one has answered. That is very unusual on the cafe....

OK. I'll answer. I have not used those on any of my mandolins. Those are pretty non traditional buttons and I guess many people prefer the pearl or ivoroid better. I like wooden buttons myself. The question is, do you like them? If so, why not use them.

Actually, they look pretty cool. I'd like to see more pics. You'd have to cut 'em out of a pretty huge piece of abalone to get it right, and I'm skeptical that they would be very strong, unless they're laminated, which I doubt. They could look really cool with abalone inlay. I'm not a real "blingophile", but natural beauty like that isn't obnoxiously "blingy".

I can see them on one of Hans' all black stealths with very subdued inlay, all Abalone, of course. That could almost as sexy as his "Testarosa." My name for it not his.

Exactly my first thought, they would be stunning on an all-black mando.

I think they would look fantastic on a traditional sunburst F5, with an abalone Fern

They'd be good on a "Testosterone" with a couple of dingle balls hanging from the strap...

In my next lifetime, I'd like to be laminated for strength and thickness, too...

Rick, just take 5 shots of tequila. Then you may not be laminated but you will be plastered and think you're the strongest guy in the room.

5 shots, with a raw egg in each one. You'll be a new man.

Layers of knobs should be as follows: abalone, 1mm ebony, 4mm flamed maple, 1mm ebony, abalone. Who's with me?

What's Roger's price on a set, and can they be put on an existing set of tuners, or do they have to come on their own set?

You could easily contact him via his website at http://www.siminoff.net/ and ask. I think the buttons are around $85 and he carries Gotoh machines, which is probably what they fit.
