Default Brooklyn Bluegrass Bash 2013 videos

From the shameless self promotion department, I offer my first video from this year's concert organized by Michael Daves to benefit the restoration of a church that plays an important role in the artistic, social and spiritual life in my neighborhood. (for details, follow the YT link below)

It's a gospel number by Jen Larson, and you may enjoy Barry Mitterhoff, and Noam Pikelny 'trading twos' in the final break. And if you need a refresher on Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego... check the book of Daniel.

Still to come, Chris Thile, Sarah Jarosz, and lots more.

Wow Brad...keep it coming. This is just the best in real music, what a performance. My son lives in Brooklyn but my job prevents me from travelling as much as I would like. Thanks.

Hey, thanks for all the kind words folks, means a lot to me. That song will be on Jen Larson's upcoming EP recording, straight-up bluegrass and gospel, mostly originals. Here she is at a session her guys; Lawson White, Noam Pikelny, Paul Kowert, Michael Daves and Andy Statman:

Love it, totally would have been there (both last year and this year) but I have to record an annual Orchestra event in Atlantic City that seems so fall on the same day as this event each year. I was bummed I couldn't make it, but your video makes it a bit better!
    Thanks!!

Here's the second new video from BBB2013. Three great players who have recently started playing together to perform new instrumental music. Brittany Haas, Paul Kowert (Punch Bro), and Jordan Tice. No mandolin on this one, so get out your own and pick along.

New video from the Brooklyn Bluegrass Bash to benefit the restoration of Old First. CTMD worked up this song for the new CD, Divided & United: The Songs of the Civil War on ATO Records. It's such a lyrical tongue twister, I was surprised to see Chris dust it off for the solo tour that he's now on.

Man, the more I listen to that, the more I think I'd better watch Ken Burns' Civil War doc. There are so many references that I don't get.

Here's the latest. Zack Bruce is the mandolin player, and there's a tasty and Monroe influenced guitar solo by Jordan Tice who was filling in on guitar.

Well, I'm not sure if anyone's still following this thread, but we rolled out a few more videos, and I'll post them here. First is the great Sarah Jarosz, this time on 5-string rather then her Brock octave mandolin.

Brooklyn Bluegrass Bash 2014 This Sunday

The third annual BBB is on Sunday, in case any folks within driving distance of NYC didn't get the word, and I think tickets are still available. It's a great line up this year with the legendary David Bromberg, Bruce Molsky, Tony Trischka & Michael Daves, Darol Anger, Joe K. Walsh & Grant Gordy, Haas/Kowert/Tice, and lots of other. Peter Sarsgaard will MC - the man who might have played Bill Monroe in the biopic, if Hollywood squabbles hadn't sunk the project!

Here's a nice story in the local paper, explaining the cause with my video of the 2013 Finale at the end. This year, I'd like to see Peter and Maggie join in on Workin On a Building!
