Would love to meet up with some fellow Minnesota mandolin players. I've been learning some Scandinavian fiddle tunes, but also play some bluegrass. Would love to get together with others.

I think, therefore, I pick.
Where you at d18? I'm in MN too.

I am in Minnesota off and on (when I am not in Argentina). It would be great to get together.
I'm over in Sandstone. We'll have to figure something out.

I am in Eagan
I lead a bluegrass jam at Blackbird Music in Minneapolis every Thursday evening, 7-9 p.m. It's very relaxed. Blackbird is at 35th and Cedar, right by Matt's Bar. We always have a good time.

i have to wake up !
I live about a half a mile from the Blackbird. I really should stop in sometime. If the owner of Blackbird has my Irish sessiun book, you'll have my foto. And my interest in music. I guess I could get thru a few old time tunes...Thursday evening is spent at MacPhail Center for Music however.
Hi, I'm in Collegeville about 20 minutes from St Cloud. Would enjoy getting together.
Hi, I live in Apple Valley, south suburbs of the Twin Cities. You might want to join MBOTMA, the Minnesota Bluegrass & Old-Time Music Association, just to get your hands on their monthly magazine, which lists a whole bunch recurring jams, bands, and performances every month. There’s a couple of jams listed in St. Cloud, while down in Northfield, The Contented Cow has a Nordic Jam on Monday nights. I go to the Homestead Picking Parlor in Richfield often for bluegrass jams, and have made one old-time jam at Blackbird and intend to make more. There’s a bunch of mandolin players floating around here, though it’s a bit of a drive for you. I’m sure there are more hiding in the woodwork in St. Cloud.

I'm in Brooklyn Center. Mostly Irish tunes on mandolin and mandocello (and only playing a bit more than a year). There are several Irish sessions in town (though I rarely make it to any).
dredging this one up, as the Minnesota Mando Shop thread has unearthed a few local pickers.
We should consider a mandolin-only jam at Blackbird sometime! I'm sure I could find a day that worked and we could do a couple hours, just to get acquainted and see if we wanted to do more. Reply here--with a preferred day if you can-- if that sounds interesting and I'll try to make some arrangements.

Because of work schedules, don't know if I can say what is the best day. Wednesday nights are better, maybe(?), but I never know for sure. Pick a night, and I'll show up whenever possible.

I'd be up for a jam.
Ok--I'm checking with Blackbird to see if there is an evening we could claim. If not at Blackbird, I'll figure something out!

Walker Church has a bluegrass jam on Monday night, April 27th. I think it has a connection to MBOTMA.
The sessions are held on the last Monday of the month from 7 to 10 pm at Walker Church.

The church is near Blackbird on 31st Street and 16th Avenue Minneapolis.
I'm not a player there but I thought I'd pass it on.

Cool. Thanks Doug! Always good to hear of other jams. But this one here would be all-mando, just for the hell of doing that.

Up here next to the unsalted sea called Lake Superior, we here in Duluth, MN have a weekly jam every Wednesday night at a place called Sir Benedict's Tavern. It's been going on since 1978. There is an Irish/Old Time on Thursday nights. All levels are welcome.
We've had the Cobb brothers Jesse and Shad here when they were 10 and 12 years old, their folks would drive them up from Kerrick, MN and Joe Walsh would come down to listen, learn and then blow us all away with his picking. Great micro brews and great view of the lake too, along with suppposed sightings of Duluth's favorite son - Bob Dylan.
I would be up for that. Wednesdays don't work for me, but generally most other nights do. If my evening is open, I will be there.
One of these days I will change my location from MD to MN in my profile.
Duluth beginner here. I go to Sir Benedict's on occasion to watch and motivate myself to practice more. :D
Ah yes, Sir Benedict's Tavern. I'm glad the jam is still going after all these years. One of my favorite places in Duluth.
