I plan on driving to Montgomery, AL on Saturday to attend the Compton/Long jam/concert. I don't beleive I own anything with Compton or Long playing on it other than O'brother(which I rarely listen to anymore). Where else can I find good examples of Mike Compton? I tried searching CD Baby and Amazon.com and found nothing.

Anybody else going to this thing?

Going to see the boys in Chattanooga tomorrow night. Should be a great show. I believe Mike and Dave are recording #soon at Dawg's studio. In the meantime the new Nashville Bluegrass Band album, 20 Year Blues, has some fine Compton picking on it.

Mikes on about half of the Nashville BG Band recordings. "To be his Child" and the recent "20 Year Blues" for sure. He's on probably half a dozen CD's with John Hartford and the Hartford Band. Also played mando on the entire Little Grasscals Nashville Superpickers CD. If you like mando & guitar get "Climbing the Walls", with David Grier - Honky Tonk Swing is a hot number.

Dave Long has his own CD out, "Midnight from Memphis". Might also be a few unreleased recordings traded around. He's played with a couple bands that I can't recall.

David played with the Wildwood Valley boys for some time. He may be on their recordings.
Some of my favorite recordings of Mike's playing are on the self-released Tom Ewing projects.

I started a Discography for Mike Compton a couple of years ago.
It is here; click on the 'discography' link.
Not quite up-to-date, but a good start.

That "Tribute to John Hartford" is a great CD. Particularly touching at one point.
I love Tim O'brien's break on "Gentle On My Mind". I got a good part of it down.
