There is an extensive interview with Alec in this months "Living Tradition" magazine, which may be of interest to some of you. It's not yet in a digital format, but you should be able to buy a copy somewhere on the web.

Great to see Zoukfest 2005 is back on this year. It's a brilliant week, and well worth going, if you haven't been before.

    Kevin,

Thanks for the pointer. I'm considering going there, if the stars align just right...but I have never heard about the experience in any detail. Do you know if there are any reports or personal accounts on previous years Zoukfest? Having a middle eastern heritage and a love for Irish music, mandolins, Ouds, and frame drums - this seems perfect for me.

Avi- Roger (the organizer) is very much into the middle-eastern music. I'm not sure if stellamara is back this year, but you'd certainly be able to talk Oud shop with Roger.

In this shot (me on the left), I think it's perfectly clear who has the nicest socks.

Is this what you Yanks call a bunch of rednecks? Seems appropriate! It was the sun, and nothing to do with Tequiza cocktails .....

Nice little set of Steve Owsley Smith instruments, folks, by the way, not that I owned mine, of course, merely a brief loan. Very nice it was too.

I knew I was going wrong somewhere - now I know - I just need to lose the tuxedo - but - I've a feeling the cummerbund adds tonal quality.

Dan - next time you're playing with these musicians and posing for pix in the summertime - get a sporran - if not to hold picks then at least consider modesty.

It's the mandola providing the double eclipse there, so to speak.

Maybe if and when Dan's mastered the "scotch snap" on his mandolin, the perhaps I'll award him an entry level kilt.

Roger's face seems to be saying, " I'm sure he had his breeks on when he walked onstage!"

I was relying on the retina-burning glare from Kevin's shirt to distract any stray eyeballs. I'll say one thing though, it's great camo if you're suddenly trapped in the "all primary colors paintball tourney" that they often have at bouzouki festivals

take note of the set list pinned over the heart! Take aim and make it quick!

Anyway, the article is great, and we await further news of Zoukfest 2005.
