    Thumbs up

Last night my fiance surprised me with a trip up to the High Desert Brewing Co. in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Steve Smith was the man of the hour and I must say he is one of the best mandolin players I've heard.

I would highly recomend seeing him if you have a chance.

I've known Steve since he lived back east here in Charlottesville VA (early 80's). During his breaks at a local venue he would let me play fiddle tunes on his mando while he played harmony and backup on his mandola, he was amazing. I bought a Unicorn mando off of him back then too as I recall...
Glad you got to see him, incredible multi-instrumentalist.

Steve IS a great guy and a monster mando, guitar player, and not bad on banjo (sorry steve) . He played in a band called Cloud Valley out of Charlottesville Va.. Also in the band were Missy Raines, Bill Evans, and Charlie Rancke. They put out 2-3 albums including a live one from their European tour.

Jeff, You are absolutely correct. I would be disingenuis for me not to mention his guitar skills.

    Thanks for setting me straight

Steve is a great guy, as well as a great player (of many instruments). He teaches at Camp Bluegrass just about every year.
