    Default John Kelly's Tune

Just been listening to John play Father John MacMillan of Barra http://snd.sc/NWl2No
Isn't this a classic case of different genre's using traditional melodies?
This certainly sounds like" Wild Flowers don't care where they grow."

    Nice playing John.Nice OM!!

Many thanks for that, xiledscot! I think the tune is probably from around the early part of the 20th century as MacMillan was born in 1888 and died in 1951. Apparently Norman MacDonald had just written the tune and Father MacMillan was down in Glasgow visiting and Norman played the tune to him. Father John was so taken by it that Norman dedicated the tune to him and so we got yet another pipe march with a fascinating history! ther is a video clip of me playing the tune at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=9gpqvTL-FZM
