Crud - this would have been a great camp to attend. I'm in Atlanta but my brother lives in Bloomington, so I'd have a free bed to crash in. But jsut started a enw job and have no vacation time accrued yet. (sigh)

Eddie, Indianapolis is the closest, 45 min to an hour from Bloomington.

    Eddie:
The University of Indiana in is Bloomington, and the B&B where the Camp is held is pretty much right on campus.

There's a very cost effective shuttle bus service from the airport to the Indiana University Memorial Union -- ~$15 each way. This is about a 10 minute walk to the B&B.

I got that from Ed's link. My Frequent Flyer mileage will cover the Flight - now all I need is hall-pass...

Thanks to all those who've shown an interest. If my math is correct, I have one spot left. 19 out of 20 seats have been filled by eager mandolinists--I know by Don and I are anticipating a great weekend.

If you've been on the fence about signing up, you can ask me to hold the spot while you do the logistics.

Thanks again to Scott Tichenor/MandolinCafe, Will Kimble, and the Grant Street Inn for joining me as sponsors this year!

I know how geeky this is going to sound - but there you go!
Jim - I have a number of your Youtube videos downloaded and I watch them all the time. A few years back when I was just starting out you sent a message of encouragement to me for one of my videos playing one one of your arrangements - and it meant a lot to me.
So, all I can say is I'm very envious of you chaps who are making it to Jim's sessions - I'm sure you'll learn a lot and have a great time. Hope it al goes well.

I think it'll be a lot of fun! I've only been playing since February. I'm hoping this camp will help me get a bit more comfortable with improvising.

This year Richter Mandolin Camp was a huge success!
Thanks to Jim Richter and Don Julin for the exceptional instruction.
Thanks also to this year's Camp Sponsors (The Grant Street Inn, Kimble Mandolins, and the Mandolin Cafe) for helping to make the Camp possible.
For photos and more from this year's Camp, be sure to visit the Camp's Facebook page.
Hope to see you at next year's Camp!

NOTE: I've not done this before for annual events but it seemed that a small specialized camp like this might benefit from everyone seeing the comments from the previous year so I've combined the comments/thread from 2012 into this 2013 announcement. Sign-up soon. Sold out last year. Tons of bluegrass and classical workshops, but this is one of the few focusing solely on other styles.

Mandolin Cafe is a sponsor of the event along with Kimble Mandolin and The Grant Street Inn.
