Default Fugues Just for Fun - Number 2

A slowish ragtime tune which was 'inspired' (dare I say that?) after hearing El Condor Pasa by Simon & Garfunkel on the radio.

Just to keep it serious ... there's also nearly a quote from a Bach fugue hidden in the second Mandolin part !!

For 2 mandolins, mandola & guitar

Score and parts available on my Skydrive - Click on the MyFiles folder, then the FunFugues folder. The files are the ones with names beginning FunFugues2

Andy, have had a listen and really liked your efforts here. I have also downloaded the score, for which many thanks. Will have a play around with this and if I can do it any justice will have a go at recording a version.
Many thanks again for tune and score.

Thanks, Andy. I always enjoy your pieces. Keep up the good work. I did download the score and parts. I just have to find some folks willing and able to play it.

    Thank you, Andy.
I certainly do not want to miss such an opportunity.

Just thinking of your wonderful version of " My Beautiful Mandolin Friend " by Nigel Gatherer on Soundcloud.

Could you tell us a bit more about these fugues ? Maybe a bit of theory and ....

Thanks Andy - Just downloaded Fun Fugues 2 and looking forward to trying it out. I read through the first "Fun Fugue" with my quartet Boston Mandolins, and we were all delighted. Thanks for your contribution - and your generosity in sharing here.

    Hi Werner

    Thanks for your comment.

A good definition of a fugue can befound here -

    http://jan.ucc.nau.edu/tas3/fugueanatomy.html

However, my pieces aren't 'full-blown' fugues in the style of J S Bach (I wish ..!) - they are just my attempts at playing about with a theme to create, I hope, an enjoyable and playable piece for a mandolin quartet ...... not to be taken too seriously !

Again Andy, very generous of you.

Thank you. I will really take time with this to study and play.

I love Bach, who doesn't. And Johann Quantz, by the way.
