Does anyone know the original lyrics to "Deportee"? I've heard different versions but want to learn Woody's.
Thanks,

Thanks,
Those are the only lyrics I've ever heard. Are there others?

The thing about that song is that the melody is not by Woody. Woody wrote those words and performed them with a different tune; in fact barely a tune at all -- his original was more chanted than sung. I'm not sure whether in the process of writing the now-familiar tune, Martin Hoffman also tweaked some of the lyrics to make them fit better.
More here.

Judy Collins does a nice version on the Tribute Concert CD.
