    Hi Everyone,

I just purchased a Johnson MF-350. It should be arriving in about a week. Currently I am using a guitar strap on my Harmony and tying the one end up by the nut.

Any recomondations for Straps for my new F-Style? ...or would y'all recomend that I keep my guitar strap?

    Thanks a Bunch

You can make a very nice strap by braiding together 3 boot laces. There's a thread somewhere about it, or i can write the instructions down if you're interested.

If you want to buy a good strap take a look at the Levi straps. I have 2. They are all leather no metal to miss up the finish and narrow about 1/2"wide. You can get them in black or brown, the loop end goes around the scroll. Not big and fits in the case real nice.
Got mine from Elderly I think they went for about $14 each.
Have fun with that new mando.

I'll have to check out the elderly website. Thank you

2nd Question: How do I wear the strap? Is it like a guitar strap that I have around my back or is it off the shoulder?

    Again Much Oblidged

This is a matter of personal preference. Try both and see which one works best for you. I use it over the right shoulder. As someone else pointed out, this has the advantage of allowing you to put it on without having to remove your Stetson hat.

In the short days when I owned a cheap F style, I had fun
actually making my own strap. If you can find a good wholesale leather outfit near you, you can pick up scrap pieces for cheap & make one with your very own signature style!.....or just buy one.

You just wait for the hat to blow off

Best guitar strap I ever bought is black, all leather, 2" wide, had two rows of holes punched in the length for looks. I had to punch my own hole in one end for the bottom strap button. The holes punched the lenght are perfect for adjusting the ubiquitous boot lace to the perfect length. I like plenty of loose end hanging. I use a chain type of knot to shorten up the loose ends. They look like a couple snake rattles hanging from the shake head! Very bluegrassy! If you haven't guessed it I bought my strap off the belt rack at the Salvation Army store for $2..... I'm cheap that way.
