Just wondering if anyone has played or owned a newer model Trinity College bouzouki--they look pretty nice--all solid woods, nice finish--Thanks for the help.

Mike here's an info page from a music store I get stuff from:

    Trinity College Zouk page

Down near the bottom of the page are links to their video samplers. I have absolutely no interest here. I just found them useful for me when I was shopping for an instrument. Good luck

I've got a Trinity, Made in Japan Octave. Fine starter instrument. Decent sound. Very playable. Stays in tune. Shop around...

As for what it's worth I have korean made TC octave mandolin which im
pretty happy with. It's a very well made instrument and it got
everything you could ask for in a celtic string instrument.

You can't really go wrong with the price..

You might want to check out the Troubador OM. The seller calls it a bouzouki, and it does have a slightly longer scale than the typical OM. But I tune mine GGDDAAEE and it works very nicely. $220 shipped is not bad.

    See http://www.troubadour.uk.com/

    NFI etc.

I just saw a used bouzouki on Greg Boyd's site in Missoula Montana. #It's a 1993 Flatiron 3MC (very reputable builder) for $975 with OHSC. #I have no financial interest in Greg's business. #See www.gregboyd.com/mando.html

I've got a 3MB, the "B" means birdseye maple. Outstanding warm musical deep tone. I recall mine was $950 back in 1995 brand new.

I have a trinity college OM and like it a lot with a couple of reservations. It came with strings that were way, way too light. Bouzouki strings I think, made for a longer neck and they sounded bad and had little volume. After trying LOTS of strings I ended up with 16plain,24w,34w,47w. a 15w or 16w would sound better, but aren't being made that I can find.

Asoon as I got it home I realized it needed a new nut, so I built one of bone, examine your prospects carefully. A new bridge also helped.

All of that being said, it is a very good instrument and being made of pretty good wood, it sounds better all the time. I get a lot of comments about the good sound and the other day I heard someone else play it and even I was impressed
