Default Moon Alley (Tom Harrell) played on Electric Mandola

    Hi all,
just finished my work on "Moon Alley", a really nice Jazz tune from the gorgeous Jazz musician Tom Harrell. I play it on my new Moongazer "Deja vu" Dola I built this Spring time. I first recorded the Play Along, all by Mandola+Boss GT-10 (Bass line as well, drum is AKAI XR-10), then the solo you see on the video. I just wanted to give you a little example of the sound possibilities of the instrument without just tinkling around ...
    Have fun! Tom

Somehow the Youtube embedding didn't work, so here is the video:

    Default Alternate Take posted

    Hi all,
just posted an alternate take of the tune because my lovely wife mentioned it would sound better without the drum machine. So I removed it and I like the result that much I just loaded it up as well. Please tell me which one of the two versions you like more; I should know this for my further projects (have three in line).
Btw comments welcome... I'm a learner!
    Yours Tom

Both takes are nice, but without the drums lets your mandola shine. Thanks!

    Here's a bit of Harrell's version

After the first two melodic chords, you play DADADADA (notes) which aren't part of the melody,
and sound too simple. Maybe doing something rhythmic on the chord, or using approach
notes would work better. Overall, a very nice sound.

Hi, sorry for the long time. Thank you all three for your replies, and @Joel: That's a good advice I will try to realize.
