    Default Fraternal Twins!

Check out my fraternal twins that The Mandolin Store stork delivered. A Lafferty LA5 and LF-5B. Both have engraved Bill James tailpieces from Axiom, McClung armrests from Hill Country Stringworks, Long Hollow Softy straps, and Tone-gards.

Dennis has done a fabulous job with these Lafferty's. . . and the guys at The Mandolin Store are very helpful and great to work with. Set up was exactly what I wanted and expected on both when they arrived. They look and sound awesome! I have owned more expensive mandolins, but never any that played any better or sounded this good.

Also thanks to Doug at Hill Country Stringworks for helping me get the look I wanted with the armrests. The McClung armrests are the most comfortable I have ever tried.

And Bill James at Axiom makes a great tailpiece. Very helpful and nice to deal with too.

I am one proud Papa! Lol.

Easy. Because one is the lonliest number that you've ever heard.

Plus, they match, so you only need to buy one pair of shoes.

I love the easy questions that actually HAVE answers.

I actually bought the A first. I went to about twelve jams in five weeks with it in Ohio and Virginia, and everywhere I went, never having seen a Lafferty, other players would actually turn to me and say, "What is that? It sounds awesome!" And these comments came from some very accomplished players (way out of my league), with some pretty amazing mandos of their own. I loved it so much, that I bought the F. Thought it would be kind of neat to have a pair. And it's amazing how consistent the tone and volume is between the two, so I put different strings on each so that I would have two somewhat different sounding mandos to fill different moods or needs. (Gibson Sam Bush on the A and J-74s on the F). Besides, I thought everybody needed two?

    Well I still have 2.

But if I bought another mando so soon, my wife is sure to take out one. Maybe both

Well, I did sell an Eastman 504 when I got the F. It certainly didn't make up for it, but it helped. I would have to say that I am truly blessed to have such an understanding wife.
