Question Looking For Intermediate & Advanced Mando & Guitar Tab/Chords

I know and love a lot of music styles but because of that I tend to spread myself a little too thin sometimes I think. I listen to "Bluegrass Junction" on XM a good bit as well as some of the stuff from Doc, Grisham and others. What I really want as a player though is a book (with cd would be great) that has lead and rhythm tablature and chords for mandolin and guitar... as well as lyrics. If I have to buy the mando and guitar books separate that's fine but I would love some old classics as well as smokin' new stuff too! I know that's a tall order but are there any recommendations from the fine pickers of the Cafe? Other styles are fine too especially Celtic, Renaissance, etc but I really want to focus on bluegrass. Thanks!

I'm excited to see some of the responses as well, I've heard Mel Bay's "Mandolin 2000" is good.
I know it goes by a different name now but if you search that^ it'll come up.

I just saw that Hal Leonard makes a "Real Book" for bluegrass tunes. I'm thinking about picking that up. I've also heard that the fiddler's fakebook is good...

There's so many songbooks and so little money.

Steve Kaufman is a great instructor who has countless books published. He has a parking lot pickers series I would point you towards if you are wanting to focus on bluegrass. He has some books published with both mandolin and guitar chords and tabs.

I have some material that might be helpful to you on my site. http://www.jakecohan.com some tabs and lessons are more bluegrass oriented than others. I recently tabbed out "Soldier's Joy," for mandolin, which is a great tune played often at jams. I also have guitar back tracks and chord charts. It's a work in progress, but free!

    Good luck and keep pickin

I don't know if it works with the newer Guitar Pro--I have GP4 and you can change any of the string tabs (doesn't work so good on the drum tab sections ) into mandolin. Of course they need adjustments but that's part of the fun.

As mentioned, Kaufman Book/CD's are good, I enjoy and have gotten a lot out of the 2 I have.
